Improve  the  quality  of  life for seniors in the communities serviced by the Greater Williamsburg Women’s Association

We feel that many of our elderly have fewer social outlets than our younger population.  Additionally, access to critical information is sometimes lacking.  Many of our elderly are vulnerable and have the need for someone to look out for them.

The first project addressed the social outlet aspect of our objectives for the year.   A social gathering for the elderly was held on April 10, 2010.  Our hope was to bring some of our citizens together for an afternoon of fun and games, entertainment, enjoyment and a hearty lunch.  We invited a cross section of the elderly, so as to promote fellowship with old friends and new friends.  Approximately fifty individuals from churches and agencies in our service area attended the event held at First Baptist Church Williamsburg.  In addition to a turkey dinner and lots of games and prizes the nationally known gospel singer and historian, Mr. Calvin Earl, gave a heart-warming performance.
